Tagaytay

Today we took a quick day trip to Tagaytay, which is about an hour and a half south of Manila.

First we stopped at a bakery in town to grab some buko pie (coconut pie) and other local treats. The pie was delicious! Apparently they run out of pie early so it was a priority stop.

For lunch we ate at Balay Dako, a nice restaurant overlooking Taal Lake.

The food was amazing! Some of the best I've had so far in the Philippines. We had baby squid, bulalo, lechon kawali, and chicken inasal. Needless to say, I left with a full belly.

Taal Lake fills the crater of Taal Volcano, which is an active volcano that erupts relatively often. In the photo below, you can see Volcano Island in the middle of the lake.

After lunch we did more sightseeing around Tagaytay. Due to the higher elevation, it was nice and cool with a great breeze.
