Fort Santiago
Today we spent the morning at Fort Santiago in Manila, Philippines.
The fort is located within Intramuros, a walled historic district. There are various parks, historic sites, and many people living inside the walls.
I really enjoyed the gardens and the old stone walls covered in moss.
Inside the fort is the Rizal Shrine, a museum dedicated to José Rizal who is a national hero of the Philippines. Rizal is a fascinating figure who was executed by the Spanish for inspiring the Philippine Revolution with his writings.
After touring most of the fort we stopped for lunch at Ristorante Delle Mitre.
There's plenty more to see at Intramuros, so we'll likely be back again during our stay.
