Dumaguete & Siquijor 2

#philippines #travel

It was another early day as we drove from Dumaguete to Bais for a day on the water.

While waiting for the boat to arrive, we were treated to a beautiful sunrise.

Once on board, we set off for a sandbar about 15 minutes off the Bais coast.

We anchored in the shallows near the sandbar and waded over. The water was so clear and blue! We saw sea urchins, sea stars, and various fish around the area.

The view from the sandbar was amazing and the photos here can't really do it justice.

Bais sandbar

Standing on a thin strip of sand in the middle of the sea is quite an experience - especially when you know the sandbar will be gone in a few hours as the tide rises.

After the sandbar we got back on the boat and went looking for dolphins which often frequent the area. Unfortunately we didn't see any due to the choppy seas.

We then headed over to another shallow area with some rest houses which had been destroyed by a recent typhoon. Normally we could have relaxed in the houses but they were still under repair.

We ate a delicious lunch on the boat of pork liempo, bangús (Milkfish), crab, and prawns.

We swam and enjoyed the water and sun for a few more hours and then returned to Bais for the drive back to Dumaguete.

After a nice dinner in town we took an evening walk along Rizal Boulevard.
